Provenance and its Melt reproduces bullfighter Manuel Granero's famous final bullfight and death in the ring in 1922. Granero died when gored through his left orbital. The lead-up to the fight, the fight itself, and the fight’s aftermath were well documented and the images were preserved in a bullfighting archive in Spain. This series reproduces nineteen images from this archive with an additional image of dubious origin. This questionable image, a close-up of the goring itself does not exist in any notable archive and first appeared on a Russian image-sharing website.
